Obituary of Bruna Di Lello

June 3, 1939 – Grimaldi, Cosenza, Italy

May 27, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brunina “Bruna” Di Lello (nee Rino); our loving mother, nonna, sister, and zizi/aunt. She passed away on Monday, May 27, 2024, at the age of 84 years.

Mom immigrated to Canada with her sister Luisa in 1956. They settled in Fernie, BC, with their father Antonio and brother Joseph. Mom later moved to Calgary, where she completed her schooling to become a beautician, and then worked for many years in hair salons throughout the city. Calgary is where Mom put down her roots, met the love of her life, Nicola, and started her beautiful family.

Bruna is survived by her two sons, Bruno (Lindsay) and Anthony (Ali); and two grandchildren, Nicholas and Adalyn. She is also survived by her sister and best friend Luisa, brothers-in-law, Mike (Anna) and Gino (Nancy); sisters-in-law, Maria (Mike) and Paola (Vince); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Bruna was predeceased by her spouse Nicola, father Antonio, mother Maria, brothers, Joseph and Bruno; sister Lina, brothers-in-law Ciccio and Amleto; sister-in-law Rosa, father-in-law Antonio, mother-in-law Flora, and brother-in-law Guerino.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB T2E 2V6) on Monday, June 3, 2024, at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Name Catholic Church (2223 – 34th Street S.W., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Interment Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery – Mausoleum (3219 – 4th Street N.W., Calgary, AB). Reception to follow at the Hospitality Center of the Church.

Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mrs. Di Lello’s Prayer Service and Funeral Mass, streamed live (see links below) on the days of the services. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the services will be posted.
