Obituary of Isabell Marie Irwin

Isabell Irwin of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at the age of 96 years.

Born in Rosevear, AB, on May 10, 1928, Isabell married Charles Alan Irwin in 1951. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and always placed the needs of her family above all. Isabell took great pride and joy in making a caring and loving home for her children, husband, and grandchildren. She will be remembered as an excellent cook and attentive hostess.

Isabell was a very creative person and most of her spare time was devoted to quilting, needlepoint, and knitting. She was an accomplished seamstress and gardener.

Isabell enjoyed travelling and camping. Her most memorable vacation was a trip to South Africa with Alan and her son Ted.

She will be most remembered for her unflinching kindness and hospitality, and her enduring devotion to family and friends.

Isabell is survived by her daughter Denise and four sons Charles, James, Ted and Chris. She also leaves behind her seven grandchildren, Rebecca, Sean, Thomas, Aran, Stefan, Nicole, and Spencer, and three great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Theodore and Leena.

Isabell is also survived by her brother, Joe, and sisters, Bernadette and Cecilia, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Isabell was predeceased by her husband, Alan, and her daughter, Carol.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church (321 – 90th Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB) in June 2025. The exact date is yet to be determined. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at McInnis & Holloway Funeral Home (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB).
