May 28, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Unable are the loved to die, for love is immortality.
~ Emily Dickinson
With shattered hearts, we share the unbearable loss of our beautiful boy, Ethan Akash Datta Huebert. Fiercely loved son, brother, grandson, and nephew. Ethan tragically left the world prematurely at the age of 17 years, as a result of an accident.
He leaves behind his devastated mom Shabnam and dad Rob, twin brother Kishan and older brother Ben, maternal grandparents Gulshan “Nani” and Kanti “Nana Ji”, and paternal grandmother Sophie “Grandma”. He also leaves behind his grieving Neera Masi and Praveen Mamma (Cindy), Aunt Sandi, our dog Milo, extended family (related and unrelated), and countless friends. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather Ed.
Ethan loved his family intensely and unabashedly, and we loved him the same. He was a protector and defender of his family and a loyal friend to all. His interests were vast and eclectic, ranging from sports cars to cooking and baking to collecting retro Air Jordans to discussing science and world issues. He truly was a young Renaissance man who was about to graduate high school and start university in the fall.
To be in Ethan’s orbit meant experiencing pure love and unrestrained happiness. He personified joy, light, energy, passion, kindness and immense love, all reflected in his ever-present and infectious smile. Ethan was intelligent, handsome, quietly confident, one-of-a-kind and perfect. To us, he was everything.
Losing Ethan is incomprehensible and the pain of his loss is immense and unbearable. We love him beyond compare and beyond measure and always will. Ethan will always be our beacon of inspiration. Those of us who know him, cherish him, and love him, will carry his light and his memory forward.
We extend our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Ethan’s friends Cobin, Sunny and Kael, and to Laura, for being with Ethan. We are so grateful to Cori for being there to support Ethan’s mom. We thank our family for wrapping us with much-needed love and support, and our friends for their outpouring of love and support including Catherine, Gia, Loraine, Katharine, Nikki and Russ, Laura, Brian, David, Bonnie, Aoife, Denise and Cathy. We are extremely grateful to Ethan’s friends who have been sending photos and videos of Ethan and messages of condolence and remembrance on Snapchat and Instagram. We also thank Calgary EMS and the medical team at Foothills Hospital.
