Obituary of Jindra Gruber
September 6, 1934 – Roudnice, Czech Republic
June 1, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Jindra passed on Saturday, June 1, 2024, leaving behind her daughter Jana, son-in-law Tom, adult grandchildren, Joanna and David; granddaughter-in-law Megan, and her great-grandson Blake. Jindra was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Miloš, and her brother Jirka.
Jindra was dedicated in her career, diligently maintaining financial accounts and managing business operations. She immigrated to Canada in 1969 and quickly found employment to help support her family. As payroll manager at Richardson Transport in the 1970s and 1980s, she was conscientious and hardworking. Jindra supported her husband’s entrepreneurial spirit as a steadfast partner in several business ventures, contributing to their daily operations.
Jindra’s devotion and kindness extended into her personal life. She was a loving wife to Miloš and a supportive mother and grandmother. Jindra took great pleasure in hosting gatherings, always ensuring that everyone felt welcome and comfortable. Jindra loved her ancestral home in Travcice, Czech Republic, and alongside her husband and brother, she rebuilt and modernized it. Through this, she maintained the memories of the past and created a place where family and friends gathered to create new memories over many summers. Jindra was also beloved for her traditional Czech baking and cooking, especially her apple strudel.
The family would like to thank the care workers at United-Fish Creek, Home Instead and the doctors and nurses in the South Health Campus, Unit 68, for their care and support for Jindra.
