Obituary of Lori Michele Luimes
April 12, 1959 – London, Ontario
June 3, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Lori Michele Luimes (nee Sommerville), of Calgary, AB, was born in London, ON, on April 12, 1959. Lori passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 3, 2024, at the age of 65 years due to a cardiac event.
Lori leaves behind her loving husband, Henry Luimes, and their three daughters, Courtney McVie (Andrew), Britney Paris (Sean), and Lindsey Luimes. She was the best Nana to four grandchildren who adored her, Jackson, Alexandra, Adelynn, and Blaire.
Growing up, she moved around southern Ontario, including London, Oshawa, and Whitby. Although moving around at a young age came with challenges, she built lifelong friendships and excelled as a swimmer. In 1980, she moved to Calgary, AB, with friends and shortly thereafter met Henry, whom she wed on August 22, 1981.
Together, they built a beautiful family. Henry and Lori were very much a team and set a great example for their girls. Lori worked in the energy industry prior to raising her three daughters. She was fiercely dedicated to her role as mom and set the example her girls use today. As her girls grew older, she rejoined the workforce, focusing on her passion for sales. She could sell anything and built an impressive career moving into management. She stepped back from working in the 2010s and, in 2015, began a role she deeply cherished, Nana. She doted on her grandchildren, and they will always cherish the blankets she lovingly made them, their much-loved "Nana blankets".
You always knew when Lori was in a room, as she had a magnetic presence, quick wit, signature laugh, and a story to share. Lori made a difference in the lives of so many through volunteering and friendship. She prioritized and supported her family and her friends who were her chosen family. She will be deeply missed.
