Obituary of Winn Campbell

September 5, 1933 – Woodrow, Saskatchewan

June 4, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Winnifred (Winn) MacIntosh Campbell, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother. Winn passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, in Calgary, AB.

Winn was born in Woodrow, SK, in 1933 to John and Marion Cross. She grew up in Woodrow and Griswold, MB, with her six siblings. After graduating from Brandon University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science, she began working for California Standard, where she met her future husband and best friend, Bill Campbell. She and Bill lived and raised their family in various places throughout Western Canada, Australia, Saudi Arabia, and California. Winn created beautiful, inviting, and loving homes wherever they lived.

Winn had many interests throughout her life, including reading, art, gardening, nature, history, genealogy, and travel. She was an active community volunteer throughout her life, most notably with the Canadian Cancer Society and its yearly Daffodil Drive. Later in life, she returned to school and graduated from the University of Calgary with a joint degree in Art History and Archeology. During their retirement years, she and Bill indulged their love of history and travel, exploring Europe, Egypt, Yucatán, and the South Pacific. Winn was a loving wife and mother. She will be dearly missed. Her generous heart, curiosity, diverse interests, and lifelong pursuit of knowledge will live on forever in our memories and hearts.

Winn was predeceased by her parents, her husband Bill, her beloved daughter Catherine Ellen Campbell, her sister Jean Farley, and her brothers, Stan Cross, Archie Cross, and Joe Cross.

Winn will be lovingly remembered by her children, her daughter Barbara (Tim) Bell, and their children, Meagan (Chris Boyle), and Myles (Kate Boudreau); her son Donald (Sandra Lee) Campbell, and their children, Haley and Jack; and her daughter Christine (Trevor Cox) Campbell, and their children, Olivia and Amelia. Winn’s memory is also honoured by her brothers, John and Evans; and their families, along with her sisters-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews, and extended family.

Special thanks go to the caring Memory Care staff at the Manor Village at Varsity, companions from Off Our Rockers Seniors Care, Dr. Minaa Amin, and family physician Dr. Roseanne Penner.

Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Graveside Service to follow at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens.
