Condolences
I am feeling keenly the absence of my friend in this world. Florence and I met at UVic many eons ago. We went on countless adventures together both at university and beyond and then with our growing families. We jokingly called ourselves "joiners" not only because it was easy to draw us into some volunteer role or other, but because we shared a love for getting out and having fun. Whether it was camping, walking half-marathons or heading to Banff for our annual Christmas celebration on December 23rd, Flo was always game to "do." She had a heart for kindness and caring and, perhaps most strikingly, loyalty. If you were lucky enough to have Flo for a friend, she was your friend for all time. My condolences to her family and all who love her. Her spirit will live on in all of us.
Sincerest condolences to you all on the loss of our dearest Flo…I still remember her as a 12 year old when Joe and I were courting. The minute Joe would leave the room, she and Gisele would hustle to sit on either side of me and ask me all the most interesting questions like “ is Joe a good kisser?” And “ are you guys gonna get married?” Apparently I was the first “ girlfriend “ to have entered the inner sanctum and I was a source of fascination for young Flo and Gisele! She and Gisele visited us in Toronto after David was born and it was lovely having them take over playing non stop with our little guy! I knew she would be an amazing mom and she was…
Flo was always so polite but she did like to joke around and gently tease her friends and siblings..just as they did her. But she would just nail a great line and then, being the kind person she was , she would say. “ you know .,I was just kidding !” In case anyone might think her intentions were anything but lovingly meant…as if! Often the just kidding bit was funnier than the gentle tease..,such a kind person…she will be so very missed! Diane Scott
