Obituary of Victor Harry Walter Pick

Victor "Vic" Pick, a dedicated serviceman and beloved husband of Helen Pick (nee Turner), passed away peacefully on Friday, June 28, 2024, in Calgary, AB. He was 93 years old.
Vic was born on September 1, 1930, in Montreal, QC. In 1950, he answered the call of duty and joined the Canadian Armed Forces, Army. As a member of the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (RCEME), he rose to the rank of Master Corporal, serving his country with honour and bravery until his retirement in 1984. Vic's service included participation in the Korean War, for which he received the Korea Medal and the Volunteer Service Medal for Korea. He was stationed across Canada and Europe, and you can see one of the tanks he worked on at the Calgary Military Museum.
Following his military career, Vic continued to serve his community by joining the Corps of Commissionaires. He also dedicated many years as a volunteer with the Calgary Food Bank, where his commitment to duty, dedication, and devotion was enacted.
Vic is survived by his loving wife, Helen, with whom he loved to dance and travel. He is also survived by his children, Vaughn and Tara, and their families; and his grandchildren and their families, and by many dear friends. His storytelling and love of song will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A private memorial service will be held to honour Vic's life and legacy.
