Obituary of David George Fowler
June 12, 1955 – Halifax, Nova Scotia
June 15, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
David Fowler of Calgary, AB, passed quietly into his final rest with family and friends at his side, just three days past his 69th birthday, on Saturday, June 15, 2024.
David was born in Halifax, raised in Labrador for many years, and has called Alberta home since the late '70s. Left to mourn are his brother Eric (Lori) in Cape Breton and his sister Maureen in Ontario. David will also be missed by close, longtime friends, Holly, Perry, Dana, and Kim, and many more lifelong friends.
The most important person in his life will also miss him dearly; his son William, age 28, who is being well-cared for. David sacrificed everything, including his own health, to raise William as a single father for the past 25 years. William was born with many special needs and requires 24-hour care. From the beginning, David never faltered. He stood tall by William's side for all those years, always loving and caring for him, to the point where his own health finally caught up with him. He was a dedicated father in a way that most men could never match.
At David's request, cremation has taken place and there will be no public service held.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made in David's memory to any organization in your area that works to assist those who have been born with Down Syndrome or Autism.
Thank you to the EMS crew, the STARS Air Ambulance team, as well as the dedicated doctors and nurses at Canmore Hospital and Foothills Hospital in Calgary. Your efforts and compassion will always be remembered.
Rest in peace big brother. You've earned it.
