Condolences
Bernie was one of my favourite Nephews, I am sad to see and feel such a great loss. Although I never met his spouse or children, I wish you the best and hope that you will be okay and carry on. That’s what Bernie would want
Our family was so saddened to hear of Bernie’s sudden passing. Coach Bernie created a safe, fun, and encouraging team sport experience for our youngest and we knew just who to call when he opened his business:-) A warm, loving, one of a kind human that will be missed. Our condolences to Jen and the family.
Our family was very saddened to hear the news of Bernie's passing. We first met Bernie in 2011 at the beginning of the hockey season. We had just moved from Calgary to Cochrane and I had some questions and concerns about the RHL hockey program. In true Bernie fashion, he took my son Sawyer on his team to ensure he had a successful and enjoyable season and he certainly did, not only that year, but for many more years under Bernie's leadership. Bernie not only coached my son but mentored me as a hockey coach as well. Bernie had a hugely positive impact on our family; we will miss him. The world was a far better place with Bernie in it. Please accept our condolences.
Im very sorry for your loss. He saved us in the middle of winter with no hesitation.
Truly heartbroken to hear, so sorry for a great loss of my brother for many years n will consider him that forever. From turkey dinner in a crack den to losing to him at Texas hold ‘em, of course dust on the bottle and amazing grace ;) sooooo missed
This is truly saddening and shocking. We met Bernie at the beginning of the pandemic when the world was in the worst throes of panic and lockdown and we experienced an unfortunate plumbing emergency. Not to be deterred by the fear of a then-still-mystery disease, while others were refusing to attend to in-home matters, Bernie rushed to our aid and our saved the interior of our home from certain flooding. Over the years he happily helped us with many plumbing jobs and installs and we learned that we both graduated from the same high school in Prince George. After his return from the Okanagan, we connected again more as friends than as business contacts, and were looking forward to getting together for a BBQ and meeting Jen this summer. Roxanne and I are truly saddened by the loss of this wonderful man and send our heartfelt sympathies to his family and all who were touched by his generous spirit and affable persona. RIP friend.
I started my friendship with Bernie 3 yrs ago. He called me and asked if I could help out one of his clients as he was to of town. Bernie was always helpful and had solutions to a lot of Plumbing questions. He had a wealth of information. One of the nicest guys I ever met. City of Calgary lost a great inspector thats for sure. My condolences go out to his family.
We were so sorry to hear of Bernie’s passing. We had the pleasure of meeting Bernie and Jen when our girls played hockey together. Bernie was such a kind, generous and thoughtful person - whether it was taking action photos of the girls playing hockey, working in the boxes or making sure each kid on the team had a keepsake from the season. Or just being friendly and chatting with the parents.
Thinking of you all and sending our thoughts and prayers.
Keith, Bonnie and Mikaela Murphy
This hurts big guy. I’ll miss your sense of humour, laugh and friendship.
We met when we were both starting our businesses and had many great successes completing various projects big and small as a team throughout Calgary. Our business relationship led to a great friendship sharing in good times and hard. Your work ethic and willingness to help others was incomparable. You were a stand up guy who was always good to his word.
I was thinking of you this past weekend and was planning a catch up phone call which I now regret not making sooner.
I was so happy for Bernie when he met his wife Jen.
He lit up when he spoke of her and told me he had found true happiness.
You will be missed Bernie.
Bernie was one of my first bosses, he taught me the ropes of plumbing, and was a good mentor. He joined me at The City of Calgary as a colleague over 20 years later and I was enjoying being his mentor to show him the ropes as he originally did for me. His sudden passing was a shock, and I can only imagine what his family must be going through. I extend my deepest condolences to his wife, and children.
I had the pleasure of meeting Bernie When he started working at the City of Calgary. Always full of life and was always available to have a conversation about anything. Sure will miss that, We lost a good one.
Condolences to his family and friends.
I had the pleasure of knowing Bernie through his training as a Safety Codes Officer and for the time he worked at Inspections Group. He was a great person who touched many lives with his typical jovial attitude.
I feel very fortunate to have had a chance for a short visit with him in Calgary a few weeks ago to reaffirm my goodwill towards his career change.
Many are saddened in our office with his passing but we will hold him in our hearts.
My most sincere condolences to his family and friends, we’ve all lost a good one.
Bernie, I only got the chance to know you for a short while but in that time I have learned how special of a man you were to my fiance. You were another father figure in Jared's life, and someone that he wanted to grow up to be. You will forever be in all our hearts and it's not good bye for us, it's see you later. We know you will looking down cheering everyone on from the bench!
