Obituary of Gerarda Agnes Maria de Ryber
April 13, 1938 – Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands
July 1, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Our loving mother and Oma, Gerarda de Ryber, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 1, 2024, at the age of 86 years.
She leaves behind the love of her life Frans de Ryber for over 65 years. Gerarda is survived by her children, Marianne (George), Pauline (Joe), and Juanita; as well as her grandchildren, Robert Payne, Jessica Payne, Christopher Payne, Nicole Payne, Robert (Nika) Hammel, Francesca Hammel (Dallas), and Ellena Hammel (Bryson); and her great-grandchildren, Atlanta Payne, Scarlett Hammel, and Daniel Hammel.
Gerarda always stood ready to help her family, friends, church, or anyone needing it. She was active in the Roman Catholic Church with the Catholic Women's League, Prayer Tree, choir, and many other ministries.
Gerarda will be so missed here on earth, while she is being welcomed home in heaven.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Strathmore (221 - 4th Avenue, Strathmore, AB) on Friday, July 12, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall. Graveside Service to follow at St. Anne of the Prairies Catholic Cemetery in Trochu, AB. Family and friends will proceed to the Graveside Service after one hour.
Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mrs. de Ryber's service streamed live (see link below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted.
