It was my honour and pleasure to meet Wayne at the GSC in Ottawa in 1966 when I worked as a summer student for George Jeletsky. Although I never worked for him Wayne was always there to answer questions of young and curious wannabe geologists. In later years I met Wayne at the GSC in Calgary and knowing he should maybe have retired I asked him about the fact that he was still working. He said he had to because the GSC had never sent his replacement. Our sympathies to all of you left behind.
