Alan George Bartlett, of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Southwood Hospice at the age of 85 years.
Alan was born on March 22, 1939, in Grays Essex, Great Britain, to George and Joyce Bartlett. He pursued his passion for helping people by becoming a surgeon. During his journey, he met his wife, Sheila, whom he married on May 2, 1970. Alan lived a fulfilling life blessed with three children. Beyond his distinguished career as a surgeon, he was also a Mason, a Shriner, and a Clinical Professor at the University of Saskatchewan.
Beyond his professional life, Alan was an avid photographer and a member of Les Marmitons.
Alan is survived by his beloved wife, Sheila Bartlett, and their three children, Karen, Kevin, and Kathryn; and his six grandchildren, Jon, Zac, Robert, Brie, Andrew, and Austin.
Alan's kindness, dedication, and love will be remembered by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Southwood Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
Special thanks to Malcom and Sandra Hampton, Ryan Townend, Barb and Doug Hill, and Dunc McKercher for supporting Alan and consistently visiting in his final months. He was always happy to get visitors.
A Funeral Service to honour Alan's life will be held at Christ Moravian Church (600 Acadia Drive SE, Calgary) on August 9, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Church Hall. All are welcome to attend.
