Bruce Allan Macdonald was born on June 22, 1927, in Winnipeg, MB. He spent most of his adult life working in the oil and gas industry in Calgary, AB. Bruce spent the last several decades living in his cabin in the Summer Village of Ghost Lake, when he suddenly passed away on September 6, 2024, at the age of 97 years.

Bruce will be greatly missed by his wife Constance Beaton; his children, Ross, Christopher, Pamela, Shari (Helmut Streblow), and Kristy; his many grandchildren, Zenna Zarelli, Emma Macdonald, Alexandra Macdonald, Tavarann and Trennen Humphries, Madison and Matthias Streblow; and his brother Angus (Tuen) Macdonald and sister-in-law Ruth Macdonald.

Bruce was predeceased by his son Todd Macdonald, and his brothers, Ian and Ronald Macdonald.

Bruce experienced many amazing adventures and lived a full life. He had an impact on everyone he met, and whose lives and hearts he touched. He will be sadly missed, yet fondly remembered by all who knew him.

At Bruce’s request, there will be no funeral service held. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Bruce’s family here.

Words that echo the last advice from Bruce: “Do not burn yourselves out. Be as I am - a reluctant enthusiast... a part-time crusader, a half-hearted fanatic. Save the other half of yourselves and your lives for pleasure and adventure. It is not enough to fight for the land; it is even more important to enjoy it. While you can. While it’s still here. So get out there and hunt and fish and mess around with your friends, ramble out yonder and explore the forests, climb the mountains, bag the peaks, run the rivers, breathe deep of that yet sweet and lucid air, sit quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, the lovely, mysterious, and awesome space…” - Edward Abbey
