Obituary of Colleen McCormick

Colleen McCormick (nee Dunn), beloved wife of Stephen, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at the age of 53 in Calgary, AB, from Triple Negative Breast Cancer.

Stephen and Colleen fell in love and just celebrated 21 years of marriage. Stephen and their sons, Shea and Gabriel, will be forever grateful for their time with their amazing and loving wife and mother.

Born on September 22, 1970, in St John's, NL, Colleen graduated from Memorial University with a Bachelor of Business Administration and later on Rhodec International where she completed her interior design designation. She was a member of the IDA and volunteered her time and talents to various organizations. Colleen had a successful career in the construction and design industry, spanning over 20 years.

In her free time, Colleen was an avid traveler having visited more than 30 countries. Her love for life and determination was evident even during her illness as she continued to hike mountains and explore her spirituality. She was most passionate about living her own life and was dedicated to her two sons, Shea and Gabriel. She found joy in spending time with her family and friends, and her smile, energy, and authenticity will be greatly missed.

Colleen is predeceased by her parents, John and Elsie Dunn. She is survived by her husband, Stephen, her two sons Shea & Gabriel, her precious dog Bailey, her three brothers, Paul, Keith, and Greg, and her two sisters, Barb and Roxanne, her in-laws Donald and Sandra McCormick, and sister-in-law Lynn Smith (James, Jenna, Bryson), and her BFF and business partner Jillian Hughes.

Per Colleen’s wishes, no formal services will be held, but a Celebration of Colleen's Life will be held at a later date.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Unit 36 of the Foothills Hospital, the Calgary Palliative Care Team, and Southwood Hospice for their exceptional care and support during this difficult time.
