Mary Sichello

Obituary of Mary Agnes Sichello

October 8, 1933 - Carnduff, Saskatchewan

September 21, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta

Mary Agnes Sichello, much-loved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at the age of 90 years, in the care of the wonderful staff at Bow View Manor.

Mary suffered a heart attack in April 2024 and fought a brief but courageous battle that her beautiful heart just could not win.

At her bedside were her three children, Leslie, Jason, and Lawrence (Janice); as well as her four grandchildren, Haley, Lee, Ashley, and Alex; and her best friend Janice Osselton.

She is also survived by Haley's husband Javier and their daughter Layla, as well as Lee's wife Sophie and their children, Rosie and Lawrence.

We were all able to have a wonderful couple of days with Mom, and as a group, enjoyed laughter and tears. There were many private individual moments as well, where Mom had time to reflect on significant occurrences in her life. She was adamant about and frequently stated that she had no regrets about anything in her life.

Mary was predeceased by her husband Arthur in 2019 after 65 years together, and her son-in-law Arley Wieler in 2021. Both are beautiful souls that will be missed along with Mom.

Mary was one of five children born to Joe and Isabel Boyes of Carnduff, SK.  She was predeceased by her sister Connie, and brothers, Donald and Robert. She is survived by her sister Delores of Victoria, BC.

Mom had many interests in life. She loved to crochet colourful blankets that adorn couches and beds from coast to coast. She recently got into diamond dotting and our walls are covered with colorful framed reminders of her.

Her biggest interest of all was people. We always said that if Mom had a superpower, it was the ability to make and keep friends. Her friendships were everything to her and whether it was a ride to a medical appointment or help to set up a garage sale, she, with Dad in tow, would always be there if called upon.

Mom's life cannot be adequately summed up in a few paragraphs and those of you who knew her will agree that the hole in the world that has been left by Mom's passing will be difficult to fill.

She was a pint-sized force of nature, and she will be missed by all whose lives she touched.
