Condolences
Hi Gregg, Neil and Karen.
I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. I really appreciated the obituary and reading about her growing up in Sasketchewan. I remember many happy years at your house on Uxbridge drive. Your mom was always so friendly and welcoming- always asked me lots of questions when I came to visit when I was in my early 20s. I know she will be missed by you all. Chris Goodall
What a wonderful, full life, Shirley had! And what an honoring service for her! Well done, family! She was an older cousin to me but always gracious and kind to everyone. Family was obviously important to Bob and Shirley, it seems they did a lot of travel and enjoyable things together. Love and sympathy to all!
Dear cousins,
I enjoyed learning more about Shirley's life in the obituary that you prepared. Thank you.
She was humble, incredibly accomplished, devoted to her family and humanity. Shirley has my highest respect.
She and Bob looked after sister Helen and I very well as teenagers when we arrived in Calgary on the greyhound bus in the summer of 1970 I believe. We were very well entertained and cared for despite all their other responsibilities.
Many years later, I kidded Shirley about assuming her name after divorcing and myself becoming Shirley Murray. She told me she didn't mind and that it had served her well.
When Momma, Dorothy Murray Peters, died (May 13, 2016), dear Shirley traveled to be with us from Calgary even though she was 80 years old at the time. It touched my heart to see her with brother Garnet making the last farewell walk.
Shirley was David and Mary Murray's first grandchild wasn't she?
Fondest Regards to all of our relations.
Shirley Peters Olson (I never did change my name)
Please accept my sincere condolences in the loss of your dear Mom, Grandma and sister. We grew up together in Ceylon and I have many memories of that time. There are a lot of us “first” cousins and we all looked up to Shirley, from her Governor General Medal in Grade 12 to all her many accomplishments as an adult. I’m sorry to have not known her children, but we kept in touch by phone over the years. Sympathies to you, Nevin, Jane and family. Rest well n Peace dear Shirley❤️
