September 28, 1947 – Toronto, Ontario
September 30, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Judith Murphy, affectionately known as Judy, who passed away at the age of 77 years, in her home in Calgary, AB, on Monday, September 30, 2024.
Born in Toronto in 1947, Judy lived a life full of love, family, travel, and laughter. Judy attended high school and university in Montreal. After graduation, she moved to Toronto for a career opportunity and met her loving husband John, whom she leaves behind. Judy and John have enjoyed fifty years of marriage. After marrying in Toronto, they moved to Calgary where they grew their family with the addition of their daughter. A devoted mother and grandmother, Judy also leaves behind her loving daughter Susan, her son-in-law Kevin, and granddaughter Katie. She was predeceased by her loving parents, Gordon and Dora Waller (Roberts).
Judy had a Fine Arts degree and in her younger years, expressed herself through her artwork. Once she became a mother, her focus and dedication shifted to her family. She enjoyed traveling, skiing, gardening, and her many fur babies (dogs), over the years. Her generosity, warmth, and unwavering presence touched the lives of her family and friends. Whether it was a phone call, cheering at a sporting event, or being the host to all the friend and family gatherings, Judy was always there when her family needed her most.
Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit and love will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A private family gathering in honour of Judy will be held at a later date.
