Obituary of John William Pollock

It is with great sadness the family of John Pollock announce his passing on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at the age of 89 years.

John was born in Edmonton, and later married his high school sweetheart Jeanine in 1957, starting a wonderful 67-year journey together. He graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in Chemical Engineering and embarked on a long, successful career with Imperial Oil, which took him and family to various locations across Alberta, BC, Ontario, and Texas. After leaving Imperial, he continued his networking and entrepreneurial ways with a group of Calgary-based professionals. He and Jeanine also enjoyed travelling to Europe and throughout Canada and the US.

John was known for having a calm, patient demeanor, always putting family first. John will be missed by his children, Lori Whalley of Calgary, Bob (Wendy) Pollock of Kelowna, and Sandra (Kevin) Blake of Calgary; his six grandchildren, Trevor, Nicole (Devon), Courtney, Ben (Meghan), Stevie (Dan), and Joey (Grace); and his great-granddaughter Tatianna.

John was predeceased by his wife Jeanine, his parents, Isobel and Wallace, brother Bob, his son-in-law Peter, and his grandson Matthew.

A Celebration of John and Jeanine’s Lives will be held at Scenic Acres Community Centre (8825 Scurfield Drive NW, Calgary, AB) on Friday, October 11, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
