Obituary of Cecile Ena Calverley
December 2, 1925 – Edmonton, Alberta
September 26, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Cecile Ena Calverley of Calgary, AB, on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at the age of 98 years.
Cecile is lovingly remembered by her husband of 65 years, Fred, and her children, Rob, Doug (Kris), and Jane (Ben). She is also survived by six grandchildren, Leah (Ben), Max, Chase (Georgia), Tristan (Claire), Hayden, and Marin (Aries); and great-grandson Jack. She was predeceased by her brother Frank and sister Norma.
Cecile’s life revolved around her family and pets. She always had a ready laugh and a sharp wit. She spent her spare time with her crafts, was a superb knitter and painter, loved photography and music, and was a voracious reader. She worked as a legal secretary in both law offices and the oil industry, before raising her children. She later attended the University of Calgary where she received her bachelor’s degree. She then worked at the university until she was in her 70s.
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Focus on Caring, especially Jennifer and Helen, for their extraordinary and kind assistance over the past few months.
The family is planning a Celebration of Cecile’s Life at a later date.
Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Cecile’s family here.
