Obituary of Julie-Ann Peterson

July 15, 1952 - Elnora, Alberta

October 16, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta

Julie Peterson passed away peacefully in Calgary, AB at the Foothills Hospital. Julie was born in Elnora, AB, the second oldest of Lanka and Hugh Pendergast’s six children. She grew up in several small towns throughout Alberta and BC, and then put down roots in Golden, BC, where she met her husband, Jim, at the Hilltop Restaurant. They started a family while living in Nicholson, BC, just outside of Golden, BC. Julie and Jim had three children; James (Jim) Allan Jr., Jody Raylene, and Shane Murray.

Ultimately, the family settled in Sylvan Lake, AB in the 1980s, where Julie worked in retail sales and bookkeeping in Red Deer, AB. Julie was often the host of many large family gatherings and was an excellent cook. Her “Petey Pancake” recipe will remain a family favourite. She also baked the best ginger snap cookies ever! Julie and Jim later lived in a number of other communities, including Red Deer, AB, Buck Lake, AB, and Creston, BC.

Julie was predeceased by her husband Jim, her daughter Jody, her parents, her sister Laura Webber, and her brother-in-law Dave Edwards. Julie is survived by her sons, Jim (Faye) and Shane (Blaire); her grandchildren, Darci (Mike), Chelsea, Grady, and Laura; and great-grandchildren, Isaac, Gideon, and Jude. Julie is also survived by her siblings, Irma Thibodeau (Pete), Goldie Edwards, Dennis Pendergast (Jalane), and Donna Heilemann (Murry); her brother-in-law Dale Webber, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Julie’s Life will be planned for Julie in the Summer of 2025 in Golden, BC where she will rest beside Jim and Jody at the Golden Cemetery (1439 Birch Crescent #1401, Golden, BC).
