Obituary of Audrey Eline Harvey
July 8, 1935 – Shellbrook, Saskatchewan
October 16, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Audrey Harvey, beloved mother and cherished community member, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at the age of 89 years. Born in Shellbrook, SK, Audrey spent her formative years in Langley, BC.
Audrey completed high school at sixteen and enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force on her eighteenth birthday, leading her to Montreal. It was there, on New Year's Eve, that she met the love of her life, John Harvey, marrying him on December 13, 1957. Together, they had three sons before relocating to Calgary in 1966.
While raising her boys, Audrey pursued her education and graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Calgary. She later landed her dream job in marketing with Molson. A pillar of her community, Audrey actively contributed to the Parkdale Community Association, organizing Stampede breakfasts, managing the finances, and supporting local events. Her advocacy was crucial in securing a new community building and a separate seniors hall. She was also a dedicated member of the Royal Canadian Legion.
Audrey and John shared a passion for travel, adventuring across the globe, including a memorable trip to Australia where she fulfilled her dream of swimming with dolphins in the wild. Among her fondest memories were camping in Dusty Rose, golfing with friends, and reconnecting with family. An avid card player, Audrey frequented JJ’s to play euchre and took delight in travelling to other communities for crib games.
She is survived by her sons, Glenn (Linda) in Fort St. John, BC, Scott, daughter-in-law April (Dan) and John (Sonja) in Belleville, ON. Audrey’s legacy lives on through her grandchildren, Ryan (Danica), Erik (Chelan), Tanya (Kent) Wigmore, Douglas (Megan), Travis (Teryle), Morgan (Mitchel) Ptolemy, Kennedy, and Quinn (Mia); and her great-grandchildren, Zaya, Kiptyn, Brinxton, Hudsyn, Hayes, Parker, William, Easton, and Colby; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Audrey was predeceased by her husband John, her parents, Ollie and Rose Norman, her siblings, Dot (Ray) Stewart, Earl (Colleen) Norman, and Marg (Ray) Baillie; and her great-granddaughter Annika.
As per Audrey’s request, no formal service will be held.
