Obituary of Brenda Marjorie Wilson

September 18, 1933 - Stoke-on-Trent, Great Britain

October 23, 2024 - Calgary, Alberta

Brenda Wilson of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at the age of 91 years.

Brenda was born in Stoke-on-Trent, Great Britain, on September 18, 1933. She immigrated to Canada in 1954.

She met her first husband on a trip back to England aboard the Empress of France cruise ship. Brenda married John Wilson in 1959, starting her family in 1960, and together they had three sons, Gary (Jackie) of Cochrane, AB; Shawn (Melanie); and Dan (Jenny), both of Calgary, AB.

Sadly, Brenda and John divorced in 1982, but that opened the door for Brenda’s second great love, Archibald Lynn Wilson. They met in 1985, married in 1988, and moved to Victoria in 1989 to enjoy their retirement together. Brenda was with Lynn until his passing in 2011.

Brenda accomplished much throughout her life and was particularly proud of running a 10k race when she was 70 years old and singing at the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria. Most of all though, she was proud of her grandkids, Brittini, Riley, Cameron, Jack, Grey, Lily Rae, Quinn, Brendalynn, and Aria, and her one great-grandson, Weston.

She had a passion for travel and was thankful to have been able to see most of the world throughout her life. Brenda also had a passion for sewing and when she was young, she made a lot of her own clothes; she continued to sew and knit throughout her life.

Her most memorable vacations were to Hawaii; she and John owned a travel agency, Galaxy Travel, and they were able to take several family trips to Hawaii over the years.

Brenda's favorite poem was “Meg Merrilies” by John Keats. She was an avid reader with a deep love for poetry.

Brenda was predeceased by her mom and dad, Dorothy and Harry Wolfe; her three sisters, Joan, Beryl, and Iris; her first husband, John Wilson, and her second husband, Archibald Lynn Wilson.

A Private Funeral Service will be held for immediate family at Centre Street Church - Bearspaw Campus.
