It is with both heavy hearts and profound gratitude that we celebrate the life of Katherine “Kathy” Hamlin, a woman whose love, strength, and unwavering support were the foundation of so much for those who knew and loved her.
Kathy was born in Calgary, AB, on October 21, 1962, to Edward and Helen Hamlin. She was the youngest of three children. Although she enjoyed drawing and writing poetry, her family was the most precious to her.
Throughout her life, Kathy was a beacon of unwavering support for her three daughters and five granddaughters. She was always there, from quiet moments to the grand milestones, guiding us with gentle wisdom and a caring heart. She taught them and everyone around her the true meaning of resilience, how to love fiercely and how to face life’s challenges with strength and emerge even stronger.
To her family, Kathy was everything. She poured her heart into her family, creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and boundless compassion. Her presence was our safe place, her love, the constant heartbeat of our lives. She passed on countless lessons, on embracing each day with grace, on the importance of kindness, and on finding beauty even in the small moments. Her legacy lives on in every act of kindness we extend, in the strength we carry forward, and in the deep love that she instilled in all of us.
In her arms, we found a haven, in her words, we found encouragement, in her actions, we witnessed the beauty of love lived fully. We will miss her dearly.
Kathy is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Maighan James (Shaun James), Lanna Marshall (Adam Collins), and Kaylee Walsh (James Walsh); and five granddaughters, Holly McDougall, Chrissy McDougall, Chloe McDougall, Desirae Jones, and Kira Jones; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her mother Helen, father Ed, brother Michael, and sister Lorri.
As per Kathy’s wishes, a private Celebration of Life will be held.
Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Kathy’s family here.
