Obituary of Ronald Curtis Johnston

Ronald Curtis Johnston of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024, at the age of 70 years.

 

Ronald was born on March 5, 1954, in Pine Falls, MB, to parents, Wilfred Johnston and Alma (Laurina) Morrisseau. He moved with his parents and siblings from Manitoba to Calgary in 1966. He has seven siblings, Bruce Morrisseau, Alan Johnston, Kathy Osmond, Debbie (deceased at five months), Barry, Brenda Moar (deceased 2009) and Darryl Johnston.

 

He met his wife, Marguerite Grasdal, in Calgary in 1973. They were married at the Crescent Heights Chapel in Calgary in 1974. They went on to have three children, Curtis Ronald, Amanda Susan, and Evan Lee Yvon. The three children went on to have five grandchildren, Curtis (Kari), Anthony (Danielle), Amanda (Gerry Maruca), Shayla; Evan (Rina), Jordan, and Ethan.

 

Ron is also survived by his maternal aunts, Mildred Johnston and Doreen Nynch; uncles, Henry, Peter, and Dennis (Diane); and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.

 

He was predeceased by his father, mother, and two sisters.

 

Ron loved trucks right from the beginning of his life. He drove dump trucks, cement trucks, and hauled explosives for the mines in British Columbia, Alberta, the Yukon, and Alaska. He hauled merchandise all over Canada and the United States. He ended his career as a dispatcher for over 100 trucks for Reimer Bulk, based in Manitoba with an office in Calgary.

 

Your family and friends will miss you, Ron. Until we meet again.

 

Thank you to Dr. Ward and his team, as well as the dialysis unit at the Foothills Hospital that helped give Ron eight more years of life.

 

A Celebration of Ron's Life will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (30 Everstone Boulevard SW, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.
