Obituary of David James Brietzke
January 15, 1963 – Calgary, Alberta
October 31, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David James Brietzke of Calgary, AB, on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at the age of 61 years.
David was born on January 15, 1963, in Calgary, AB, to Marchus and Marion Brietzke. Being the youngest of 18 children, he certainly gave his parents a run for their money. It is often said David had many lives, overcoming many health scares over the years.
He had many careers throughout the years but his most recent was house painting. His other career adventures took him into security and wildlife services.
David is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Denise, of 30 years. Together, they shared many animals over the years, including their beloved dogs Buddy and Teddy. Two weeks prior to David's passing, Teddy joined the family.
His memory will live on as uncle to many numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, as well as in his many cousins and friends.
David, an avid animal lover, often preferred animals over people. He was also a fan of the outdoors, loved being so close in proximity to the mountains, and enjoyed spending his time down south in the Crowsnest Pass area.
David will fondly be remembered for his deep voice and sarcastic sense of humour.
Denise would like to extend thanks to Dr. Alvarez, who improved David’s quality of life with her dedicated service and care.
A Celebration of David’s Life will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street N, Calgary, AB T2E 2V6) on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.
