Obituary of K. B. Anne Crossan

Anne Crossan, beloved wife of Hugh Crossan and loving mother of Jane Oliveira and Irene Klemky, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2024, at the age of 87 years after a lengthy battle with dementia.
Anne was born in Edmonton, AB, to Caroline and Reid King. The family also lived in North Battleford, SK, for a time before moving to Calgary in the mid-1950s.
Anne graduated from Western Canada High School in 1957. She completed work experience with the Royal Bank of Canada. Over the years she also worked as a stewardess (flight attendant) for Trans Canada Airlines (Air Canada), a secretary (administrative assistant) for Royalite Oil and National Film Board, and a store detective (loss prevention officer) for Eaton’s and Sears. She retired after spending over 30 years with the Government of Canada.
Anne married Hugh in December 1984 in Edmonton, AB.
She was a member of the Oddfellows and Rebekahs and volunteered with the Lions Club.
Anne accomplished much through her life and was particularly proud of her menagerie of animals at the acreage in Strathmore. She spent many years singing barbershop harmony with Sweet Adelines Chinook Winds chorus. She travelled with the chorus to many regional competitions and an international one in London, England.
Anne’s most memorable vacations were trips to the United Kingdom and Florida. Her favourite book was Anne of Green Gables. She will be most remembered for her dancing eyes and smile that lit up the room.
Besides her loving husband, Anne is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Jane and Joe Oliveira of Calgary, AB, and Irene Klemky of Lethbridge, AB; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Matthew Oliveira and Cassandra Clifford of Calgary, and grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Reid Oliveira and Amanda Santoro of Washington State, USA.
Anne is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Anne was predeceased by her parents, Caroline and Reid; her sister Carrie Ramsden, and brother Bob King.
Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Graveside Service to follow at Union Cemetery (Erlton St & 32 Ave SW, Calgary, AB).
