Obituary of Lauraine "Laurie" Olive Marchi

May 7, 1939 – Trail, British Columbia

November 6, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lauraine “Laurie” Marchi, beloved mother, sister, and friend, who left us peacefully on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at the age of 85 years.

Born on May 7, 1939, in Trail, BC, she grew up in Fruitvale, BC, and eventually moved to Calgary, AB. She worked at Calgary Co-op and was the first female grocery manager in the company`s history. She was a caring leader and hard worker, retiring after 30 years of dedicated service.

She was a quiet woman, full of grace, warmth, and was quick-witted. Lauraine enjoyed spending time with her daughter, Michele, and her sister Sharry of Calgary. Her hobbies included watching the birds from her window, reading, playing cards, and going on family picnics.

Lauraine was predeceased by her parents, Severina and Tony Marchi; her sister Diane McConnachie (Bill), and her brother Jerry Marchi (Kendra) of Fruitvale, BC.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Michele, with whom she shared a close bond, and her siblings, Sharry, June (Rick), and Eddie (Teri) Marchi. Lauraine’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends who will cherish the moments they shared with her forever.

As per Lauraine`s request, no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the charity of your choice in her honour.
