Obituary of Dorothy Isobel Evelyn Nighswander
August 1, 1931 – Toronto, Ontario
November 6, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta
Dorothy Nighswander of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at the age of 93 years.
Dorothy was born in Toronto, ON, on August 1, 1931. After she graduated from high school, she worked in an insurance office. Jack worked in the same building, and they met riding to work on the streetcar. They were married in 1952 and moved to Calgary in 1959. She was active in the UCW of St. Andrew’s United Church. Later she worked as a cook at Rockyview General Hospital where she obtained her journeyman cook designation. She was an accomplished oil painter who enjoyed playing bridge, reading mysteries, and listening to Big Band music.
Dorothy was predeceased by Jack in 2013.

Dorothy also leaves a sister and brother-in-law, Muriel and Hans Deiterding, and family in Stratford, ON.
A Gathering will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, Hospitality Centre, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Pets are welcome to attend.
