Obituary of Jean Mark

April 6, 1955 – Toronto, Ontario

November 13, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jean Mark, who left this earth peacefully in the arms of her devoted husband, Alan Mann, on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, in Calgary, AB.

Born on April 6, 1955, in Toronto, ON, Jean touched the lives of many with her compassionate spirit and vibrant personality. She lived a life rich with love, adventure, and dedication, and her legacy will continue through the countless individuals she inspired. She was a beloved mother, sister, and friend to many.

Jean graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with a major in psychology from the University of Guelph in 1981. Jean and Alan married in 1986 and later moved to Calgary in 1994. She eventually became a volunteer for CHADD Calgary, where she worked to support families dealing with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder. Her dedication to helping others drew people to her and made her a cherished member of the communities she was involved with.

She later found her passion as an Academic Learning Strategist at the University of Calgary in 2011, and later at Mount Royal University in 2018, until she retired in 2021 due to ALS. She found immense fulfillment in her work, helping students unlock their potential and pursue their educational goals. Her commitment to education and learning was profound and impactful, affecting the lives of many students during her tenure.

Jean's passions extended beyond her professional life. She enjoyed hiking with friends, relishing in the beauty of nature, and traveling, as she delighted in discovering new places, cultures, and creating memories along the way. She also cherished the memories of her family vacations.

Jean will be dearly missed by her husband Alan John Mann, her son Ian James Mann, and her daughter Melanie Arwen Mann. She was predeceased by her parents, Fong Yin Lee and Wing Ho Mark. She leaves behind her brother Henry Mark, sister Toi Feng Ing, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She will be most remembered for her kind heart, generous spirit, and her love for her family. She leaves a legacy of love and compassion and will be deeply missed by all. While she may have departed from this world, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Rest in peace, dear Jean. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
