Obituary of Elfriede Lasslop

Elfriede Lasslop (nee Baedke) passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at the age of 94 years.
Elfriede was born October 3, 1930, in Alexanderfeld, Bessarabia, and immigrated to Canada in 1954 with her family, settling initially in the Raymond, AB area. She later moved to Calgary, AB, where she got married and raised her family. In later years, Elfriede loved being in her garden and although slowing down, was still outside as much as possible.
After a serious fall in May 2023, Elfriede moved to AgeCare SkyPointe, a long-term care facility, where she was cared for and loved until her passing. We would like to send our heartfelt gratitude to everyone at AgeCare SkyPointe who cared for Elfriede and who became our second family. We would not have had this time with Elfriede without your help and support.
Elfriede leaves behind two daughters, Judith Lasslop (Greg) of Bassano, AB, Ruth Lasslop of Chestermere, AB; granddaughter Nicole Youra (Louis), and her brother John (Elsie) Baedke of Medicine Hat, AB. She was predeceased by her husband Julius Lasslop, her parents, Nathaniel and Maria Baedke, and siblings, Elsie Friess (Otto), Alwin Baedke (Amalia), Wilma Ritter (Herbert), and Otto Baedke (Erika).
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Cathedral (219 – 18 Avenue SW, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., with Father Gregory Coupal officiating. Graveside Services to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery (3157 Erlton St SW, Calgary, AB). Reception to follow at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) in the Hospitality Centre.
