Condolences
Deepest Sympathy to Adrienne and all the family on your very sad loss.
Will always remember the day we hiked to Lake Carnovan to fish. On the return as we were about to wade the Highwood River back to the camp, he stopped me and said proudly he was going to become a grandpa.
Rest in peace, and may your heavenly fish always be bigger than Kaasten’s.
John Engblom
Adreinne…So sad times for you and family.
John and I had a special friendship since the first day I met him over 50 years ago. So sad and difficult to write these few words. We had oh so many good and glad times together, along with our fishing, golfing and partying friends. Those close quarters sleeping in tents, cooking all our meals and solving world problems over our campfire were classic.
I especially recall those long treks we made together up the mountains and along the rivers of the Rockies. We loved our fishing trips and loved to remember them. I usually told the story of getting my big 8 lb pickerel up north of Sudbury. He’d counter with getting a 12 lb. pickerel further north in Algonquin Park. I said I have pictures and had mine stuffed and on the wall in my rec room. I asked what he did to his catch. He said …aw….we just cooked and ate him.!!
We always bragged that when we played together in golf, we were never beaten. It wasn’t always true, but we said it anyways. It was our thing. A warning to the other guys.!!
He was a good friend and we’ll all miss him. We were all so lucky to share our stories together at our last lunch together just a month before he passed.
Bev and I wish you well in these tough times to come. We share in your loss. God bless.
Tony and Bev Kaasten.
