Shauna Kinniburgh

Obituary of Shauna Irene Kinniburgh

February 22, 1953 – Medicine Hat, Alberta

December 19, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

Shauna Kinniburgh, beloved wife of Ronald Kinniburgh, received the best early Christmas present ever, when she passed away on Friday, December 19, 2024, at the age of 71 in Calgary, AB. Her Christmas present was to cross the threshold of this life, to life eternal with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Shauna was born in Medicine Hat, AB, on February 22, 1953. Her family moved to Taber, AB, where Shauna met her high school sweetheart, Ronald, and later married him in June 1973.  The young couple began their married life in Calgary, AB, their home for the majority of their life. It was during a brief time in Oklahoma in 1975, that Shauna made the decision to give her life to Jesus by accepting Him as the Lord of her life, and she followed Him fully thereafter.

She graduated from Mount Royal College in 1977 with a nursing degree and worked as a nurse from 1977 to 1981. After the birth of their second child, Shauna retired from her nursing career to look after her growing family. She loved to volunteer at RockPointe Church where she attended and was a devoted member of the community. Shauna enjoyed many good friendships and cared deeply for her neighbours on the street where they have lived for over forty years.

Shauna's passions included quilting, sewing, baking, and spending time with her family, especially her ten grandchildren. She was a compassionate and caring individual, always willing to serve others and show love to those around her. Shauna loved camping with her family and enjoyed several memorable trips to China, Mexico, Germany/Austria, and a cruise to Alaska.

Shauna will be deeply missed by her husband, Ronald; her three sons Jeremy (Carmen), Nathan (Riann), and Matthew (Samantha); and her daughter Jana-Lynn Hooper (Ryan). She also leaves behind her ten grandchildren, Isaac, Josiah, Aria, Roscoe, Lucy, Micah, Emmeline, Brennan, Samuel, and Marcus.

Shauna was predeceased by her brother Bryan and her parents, Oscar and Edna Herringer.

Shauna will be fondly remembered for her love and service to others, her strong relationships, and her unwavering faith in God. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but we look forward to the day we are reunited in heaven.

We want to thank the palliative team and Dulcina Hospice team for their care and support, as well as all the people who prayed for us and supported us during this difficult time.
