August 19, 1933 - Lampman, Saskatchewan

January 10, 2025 - Calgary, Alberta

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Ellen Katherine Waters, at the age of 91 years old on Friday, January 10, 2025, surrounded by her family in Calgary, AB. Born on August 19, 1933, in Lampman, SK, Ellen was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.

Ellen is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ted; daughter Janice (Yarek), and grandchildren, Jordan (Leslie), Jenna (Hope), and Janelle. She is also mourned by her siblings, Agnes, Margaret, Alice, Gertie, David, and Carol; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ellen was predeceased by her parents, Florence and Joseph Hoffart, and siblings, Madeline, Betty, John, and Richard.

Ellen will always be remembered for her witty sense of humor and her ability to give advice for any situation in a gentle manner. She enjoyed watching curling and baseball, talking to her sisters on the phone, being the first one to offer to peel potatoes at family dinners, and getting her hair done.

Her family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the numerous healthcare workers and medical staff, especially Dr. Michelle Geddes, at Foothills Medical Center and Agape Hospice for their compassionate care and support throughout Ellen’s final months. Your kindness and devotion will never be forgotten.

As per Ellen’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. She will be laid to rest in the company of her family at the Regina Funeral Home and Cemetery in Regina, SK, at a later date.

If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial tributes may be made directly to the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre, 3395 Hospital Drive NW, Calgary, Alberta, T2N 5G2, 1-844-465-6330, www.albertacancer.ca or with the gift of a blood donation, as this was instrumental to extending Ellen’s time with us.

Miss Me But Let Me Go

When I come to the end of the road

And the sun has set for me

I want no rites in a gloom filled room

Why cry for a soul that is set free

Miss me a little- but not too long

And not with your head bowed low

Remember the love we once shared

Miss me- but let me go

For this is a journey we all must take

And each must go alone

It’s all part of the Master’s plan

A step on the road to home.
