Condolences
I'm part of the Sunday hockey crew as well. I was completely shocked and saddened by this horrible news. Joe is absolutely on the mark with his description of Robin. Win or lose, good or bad game, he would have a smile and encourage everyone on the ice. A recent puck in the face and some stitches may have distorted his smile but could certainly not remove it. He was one of the most gentlemanly and humble players I’ve had the pleasure of skating with. Sunday hockey won’t be the same. I can only imagine the holes he is leaving behind outside of the rink.
I am so sorry to hear about Robin's passing. He was a wonderful manager during the time we worked together at Fortis. Robin always took the time to listen, and he was a constant source of support. You could always count on him for help, and his genuine smile and warm personality made a lasting impression. I appreciated his interest in getting to know others, and his stories about his family and his love for Christina Lake were always so heartwarming. Robin will truly be missed by all who had the privilege of working with him. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
I was shocked to hear of Robin’s passing today. I have known Robin for the past 16 years and he was my IT project supervisor these past 2 years. He was very supportive of what I needed as we both had the common goal of delivering value to the business. Robin had tremendous respect for all his colleagues. I will miss our weekly in person coffee meetings. At our last coffee meeting on Tuesday he shared what a great holiday break he had with all of his family and how proud he was of his daughter pursuing additional studies while waiting for an opportunity for a post graduate placement. My sincere condolences to the family.
As a member of the Sunday hockey crew that Robin enriched each week, I must say that he was beloved by us all. Robin carried himself with such grace and kindness - always offering an encouraging word and always with a smile. Robin was a smart player, but beautifully and hilariously self-deprecating. He and I would often commiserate on the bench, lamenting our respective hands of stone and lack of skill. He was just one of those guys who was so easy to be around. He was authentic, genuine, humble. And, he was hard-working and dedicated. Though I didn't know Robin away from the ice, I am certain that his attributes followed him in all walks of life. I will miss him dearly. Sending wishes of comfort to all those who loved Robin. He truly made this world a better place.
Robin - you were the person I looked to for every piece of advice. When there were rocky seas, you brought steadfast sails that made everything feel calm. When I needed a space, I came to you and Carole. And when I needed someone to believe in me, you never let me back on the surf boat without telling me “one more. You’re gonna get it.” You have endlessly made an impression on my life and to everyone’s lives you were a part of. You were reliable and kind - and had the greatest laugh. It is a laugh I will remember for the rest of my life. Thank you for being part of this earth and for loving my best friend in such a way, it is a love that we will look upon with awe for the rest of our lives. You were truly an amazing person and I wish we had more time together and I could see you surf once more. I will miss you my friend. My heart will never recover from the loss of you and I hope that we meet again on the other side.
I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Robin. I had the privilege of working alongside him, and he was an incredible colleague—kind, dedicated, and always willing to support others. His impact on me, the team, and those who knew him was immense, and he will be so greatly missed. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones. Rest in peace, my friend. Your kindness and dedication will continue to inspire all of us who were fortunate to know you.
I worked with Robin for 10 years at Fortis. He was always my "go-to" guy when I wanted some sound and sane advice on work issues. I loved his enthusiasm for life, and he was a huge asset to our work family. He will be greatly missed by his work team. Personally, I will miss seeing that beautiful smile. Rest easy, Robin. You will forever be a member of our team.
