Condolences
To Richard and Cote Family,
I am sorry to hear of the loss of Nathan. Going through the Scouting program with Nathan was a genuine pleasure. He was a great leader in scouting and he was always up for an adventure and was never one to give up when the going got tough whether it be cold weather, difficult trails, or mosquitos. Every camp we went on I would always try to get Nathan as a tent partner as he was such a pleasure to be around. I often tell stories of the adventures he and I shared.
One of my favorite of these stories took place around Chain Lakes on one of our winter camps. Most of the scouts were in the meal cabin playing cards, some where ice fishing, and some playing a bit of pond hockey. Both Nathan and I wanted to explore the unknown, to us, the area around the lake so we gathered up a group of about 7 scouts and started across the lake. We came to a frozen stream that flowed into the lake and started hiking up ontop of the ice. While hiking I believe it was Nathan who first had a foot go through the ice, as the ice was not the thickest and had weak patches. He showed no concern and had no intent on turning back, shortly after another scout had a leg go through and they turned back because they were uncomfortable, and several scouts turned back in fear that they might go through the ice and so there was only 3 of us left. It was then that Nathan came up with the idea to grab a stick from the shore and bang the ice in front of us, something that I still use quite often, and we continued. The third member of our small party had a foot go through and so did I shortly after and the third member wanted to go back. I told him to just walk back himself but Nathan would not have that. Nathan had us walk back to the lake with the third scout and then, when on solid ice, we left him to the remainder of the return. Nathan and I then continued our trek on the frozen stream. After some time when going through a narrower portion we heard a ‘CRACK’ and the ice cracked all the way across behind and in front of us. Given the suddeness of the situation we jumped forward off the frozen plane of ice and then the ice cracked again in front of us and we had to jump forward again. This happened nine times before we came to soild ice. We then rested for a while and taked about how awesome that was and how it was like something out of an Indiana Jones movie. Then I suggested we go back across the loose ice panels and he was weary of the idea but I convinced him. so we set off back across the ice jumping from plane to plane until we came to the final plane which broke as soon as we landed on it sending us into the river. We then had to resurface and swim for shore, my Flames hat that I was fond of came off and Nathan went back in to grab it. We then headed back to camp soaking wet but there was no complaints, only talk about how great our day had been.
Nathan was a great leader and role model. Over anyone else in scouts I aspired to be like him and have always had nothing but the greatest deal of admiration and respect for him. I will deaply miss the great man that he was.
My prayers go out with you now and hope that God will help you through this difficult time.

I met Nathan through my daughter Allie, he was at my house when he was visiting wpg. with his friend Ryley. I made the kids my special chocolate cookies and made the boys feel at home during the visit. Nathan was a very good friend of Allie’s, she has tears in her heart, but the memories of Nathan she will hold dearly. Rest peacefully dear one :-)
To Richard and family,
We are so sorry for your loss.
Richard, Carol and Rachel,
Remembering a young Nathan crawling all over Richard at one of the few times that we got together. Now his grandfather Barry gets to enjoy the ‘little’ guy. Nathan is at peace but his memory lives on.

I would like to write about a memory shared by Richard: A husband, a father, a son, an uncle, a cousin, a friend and my manager/mentor.
The Memory Richard shared with us (his team at work) was when Nathan was just a small boy, he and Carol were attending a school play and the kids made these paper hats which they had to wear during the performance. Turned out Nathan wasn’t feeling too well that day but the show must go on….and it did… Nathan lost his breakfast in the kids paper hat ahead of him just as the curtain lifted…. as luck would have it the parents of this small boy with the deflated paper hat were sitting near Carol and Richard, and they over heard one of the parents say “they sure used a lot of Glue on his hat!”
Richard could hardly contain his laughter while telling the story, his laughter was viral on that day. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful memory.
GOD SPEED Nathan & GOD BLESS all of the Cote family, fur kids and friends.
With love & sympathy Leigh-Ann

We offer you our condolences in this difficult time and our thoughts and prayers are with you in your loss of Nathan. Myself, I enjoyed the all too brief time I had to know Nathan through Scouting and know he will be missed. We trust he will find the peace he deserves.

To The Cote Family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you, and we extend our deepest condolences to your family during this trying time. Nathan was a talented, hard working and caring person. He took pride in the work he did. He would come in early, stay late if needed, and cover shifts if we were ever short-staffed. Though we had only been open a few months, and his time working here was short, he made many friends and was respectful to everyone he came in contact with. We are privileged to have had him as a member of our team, and the staff and management at The Tommyfield will sorely miss him.
Kindest regards,
The Tommyfield Gastro Pub
Richard and family,
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your son Nathan. I did not know him but from what I know of you Richard, if he was anything like you he was a great person.
My prayers are with you to take comfort at this time in knowing that Nathan has returned home to where he came from and is in a better place. The passing of a loved one truly is a loss only to those of us who are left behind, they have simply moved on to the next stage of their life and progression.

I may not have been your closest friend, but every time I got to see you something amazing happened. From the first time I met you and we saw the movie Insidious together with Chris, to the last time I saw you in November of 2013 at Alexa’s Halloween party, you were always such a great person to be around. I’ll never forget our inside jokes, and the insane over the top nights we had. I feel like I should have known. I was reading all your notes and statuses on facebook and it makes me so sad that you hurt this much. You are an extremely great person that will be missed by everyone.
Grandma Loudon and I love you and miss you so much. Wish we had more time together and to make up for so many things. I know you are now at peace and happy, with Grandpa L. I will cherish all the wonderful memories of you growing up and all the Star Wars things we did together. Sending love and hugs and prayers from us both. We will love you always.
I knew Nathan through my daughter. The first time being a meeting at Tim Hortons to discuss the rules of hanging out with her. I must say, he surprised me by even showing up. That in itself says a lot about his character. He surprised me further with his understanding of our need for reassurance and our concerns. He was genuinely a good person. I feel honored to have known him. He will forever have a special place in our hearts.
My sincere condolences to his family for their loss.
