Obituary of Shao Rong WONG

WONG, Shao Rong December 20, 1927 – February 15, 2014 Shao Rong Wong, beloved brother, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away peacefully while being surrounded by his loved ones in Calgary on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the age of 86 years. Shao Rong was born in 1927, into a loving family with five brothers and two sisters. He was a well-known and respected principal in numerous high schools around Taishan City, which is how he met the love of his life, Chao Xiong. He married Chao Xiong in 1958 and they raised their three daughters Sue, Lily, Kelly and son Kenneth together. After retiring, Shao Rong and his wife made the decision to take Kelly and Kenneth and his mother to immigrate to join their oldest daughter Sue and her husband in Calgary, Alberta. He enjoyed doing Tai Chi in the morning and was an avid reader of current events around the world. He relished in promoting healthy living to all his friends and family and enjoyed maintaining his organic vegetable garden while involving his family in the process. Shao Rong loved spending time with his family, and especially loved to go on trips and vacations with them. Nothing gave him more joy than being surrounded by his children and grandchildren and he thoroughly enjoyed hearing about their accomplishments in life. Shao Rong will be dearly missed and remembered forever by his loving wife Chao Xiong; their children Sue (husband Ming), Lily (husband Alan), Kelly (husband David) and son Kenneth (wife Zenda); his grandchildren Perry (wife Lisa), Carolina, Brandon, Jefferey, Jocelyn, Nathan, Celina and Cyrus; his great grandson Clark; his family in Malaysia; and other extended family members and friends. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Saturday February 22, 2014 from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
