Condolences
If there is a “Dental Hall Of Fame” in Heaven, Dr. Shimbashi will most certainly be honored with the best of them. An innovator, a humanitarian and a true maverick, he pushed the boundaries of dentistry with his contributions to the neuromuscular movement. By some great twist of fate I met him in 1990 when I was in a great deal of pain and he managed my problem for many years. I am forever indebted to him!

To the Shimbashi family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you on the sad occasion of Hank’s passing. He was a wonderful man who had a positive impact on everyone he dealt with – family, friends, colleagues, patients, community. He will be sorely missed, but leaves behind a wonderful legacy and example of how to approach life for the rest of us to follow.
Elaine Horne and family (Drayton Valley)
I’ll always remember Hank with a smile on his face. Not sure who enjoyed his jokes more; him telling them or his audience receiving them! He was (and remains) an inspiration to us all.
Dear Shimbashi Family –
To have had the pleasure and privilege of being a part of his staff in Drayton Valley will always hold a special place in my heart. He truly gave the definition of ‘gentle’ in gentleman.
Always so respectful but amazingly full of life made working with him one of my greatest memories.
My sincere sympathies!
Eileen Tyndall
Dear Michael, Michaelle, Sandy, Rhobin and Blair. We were so sorry to learn that your dad had passed away. He was such a good friend to so many. We have great memories of curling with him, and of course with most of you at various times in a younger day. We hope your memories of him help to sustain you and your families at this time.
Thinking of the Shimbashi Family at this time. Your Mom and Dad were a very important part of the Drayton Valley Community.
Michael, Michaelle, Robin, Sandra and Blair
Your father was one of the most respected people in my life. Our thoughts are with you at this time. Your father contributed so much to the community and neighbours and was a great provider to your family and greater circle of friends. I remember as a kid what he did for the town of DV, making it possible for us to play hockey in an enclosed arena and remarkably keep our teeth intact. As a young hockey player in minor hockey week, Hank asked me to say grace for the hockey banquet and awards night, who could refuse. A moment to remember for the rest of my life. May his spirit live on and we shall cherish all the great memories for having known him.
Best Regards, Cam
Dear Michaelle:
I was so sorry and sad to hear of the passing of your father. He was so kind and such a gentle man. I’m glad Nat referred me, as I then got to know both of you. My prayers are with you.
Sincerely, Marg
Dear Michaelle & Emily

To The Family
It is with great sadness I post this message. Hank was a great man and friend for many years starting in Drayton Valley in 1967. Many fond memories of golfing and curling with Hank and having many fun times. Hank lived life fully and and was a great family man.
I feel honored to have had a friend like Hank. I also babysat the older children a few times when they were small. May God give you all comfort during this difficult time.

Although I’ve not seen Hank in a great many years the news of his passing brings back some of my best memories, curling in the City ‘speil, flying lessons, rebuilding the curling rink. When travelling with him, his wisdom and great personality always insured that there would be a crowd. He was an excellent dentist and a true sportsman. My deepest sympathy to his entire family.

Hank did so much for so many people, many of whom were most certainly huge beneficiaries of his professional genius. He will be missed tremendously and always remembered.
Michaelle, Emily & Shimbashi Family,
My heart is with you during this sad time. Your Dad will be greatly missed and his memory will be cherished by all who loved him. I read this quote after my Dad passed away – “Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.”
Lots of love, Diane.
Dear Michaelle, Michael, Sandy, Blair, Rhobin and the Shimbashi family.
It was with great sadness that my Mother and I learned about the untimely passing of your Father. Though from modest pioneering beginnings, what he accomplished was truly impressive, and his impact on his family, his community and his profession was profound. His passion and humanity will indeed live on in all he touched. Please know our thoughts are with you at this time and always.
With our affection and sympathy, Aiko and Mike Murakami
Uncle Henry will be sadly be missed! I loved him dearly! I just spoke with my dentist Dr. Tally Abougoush and I only heard how wonderful he was and how he was loved by many! I remember spending many Christmas’ with the Shimbashi Clan and I had wonderful memories of Uncle Henry and Auntie Sunao, Michaelle, Michael, Sandy, Blair, and Rhobin. May God Bless all my Aunts and Uncles as well as all my cousins who have lost their father, brother and uncle as well as their grandpa at this time! May the Lord comfort you and give you peace at this time! Love in Christ, Cheryl Shigehiro
