Condolences
Barb and Family.
Although John had told us the Drs. had given him a time, we were shocked to find the time had been cut short & John was taken from us.
Our Accountant for over 20 years, John was always upbeat & gracious about everything. We recall many times, the day we met him for lunch. Upon leaving the restaurant, I noticed a parked BMW. Jokingly, I asked John if that was his BMW. Without hesitation, John said ” No, that is my BMW” & then pointed to large passenger Van. ” My big Mormon Wagon”. We still laugh at that one.
My Family & I miss John.
Take care of each other.
Love,
Bill & Cecile

To the Blumells and Ogdens. I am so sorry for your loss. John was such an awesome person as is his family. My sincere condolences to you all. It seems only a few years ago that John was going on his mission – but not so – it has been many years. He has accomplished so much with a wonderful and loving wife and family.

There are many fond memories of being in your home and feeling the special bonds that your family had with each other. John was such an example to us young men of enjoying life and making everyone feel so welcome in his home. My thoughts and prayers are with your whole family during this difficult time.
My deepest condolences to the lovely Blumell family. I worked with John at Oggo/Workwell Group of Companies for several years while he was CFO and I have very fond memories of John. His easy and humorous approach to work was a quality in leadership hard to find these days. Thank you John for this as you provided me, in my career, a softer approach to life/work. God Bless.
To the Bunnage and Blumell Families;
So sorry for your loss. Thinking of you. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
I am shocked and saddened to hear of John’s passing. He was a great man and I am very proud to have known him and to have been able to call him a friend. He helped me with my accounting when I was in Calgary and I am ever appreciative of his kindness, patience and generosity. So sad to see another great one gone too soon. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends. I wish I could be there for the service but I’m on the other side of the world. My thoughts will be with you all this weekend.
John has been a dear friend and colleague for many years. I feel that I have become a better person for having gotten to know John and his family. There was always a warm welcome when I visited we all will miss him dearly.
John is one of those rare individuals who truly did make the world a better place.
Through my tears I am still able to smile when I think of his exuberance and total love of life.
I appreciate his kindness and genuine goodness.
I am most grateful for his obvious love for my dear nephew Brent and their four special children.
At times like this, how grateful I am for the Plan of Salvation and the hope of joyous re-unions.
Sadly I cannot attend the funeral as I am in Mesa, AZ but know that my thoughts and prayers continue to be with you and I shall be wearing a poppy.
Much love

Sadly I cannot attend the funeral as I am in Mesa, AZ but you shall be in my prayers
I knew John from 2005. He was my manager at Condominiumfirst. It was so comforting to talk to him when I was going through a dark period. Over the years on working with him I have always admired his genuine nature. He has made me to desire to be a better human
Barb,
We are so sad about John. We will remember him smiling and dancing. He was such a kind, warm person and made everyone around him feel good. We did not know him well or see him often but his warm personality shone through always, making the world a better place. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Barb,
What a lovely obituary. It is very clear that John had an unbelievable impact on all his family and friends and will be greatly missed. Tell the Grandkids to always keep “Papa John” close and talk lots about the wonderful times they had together. Take care of yourself and your family. God Bless you and your family.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Laura, Sarah, Jason, and the rest of the Blumell family. I did not know John personally, but knowing a few of his children, he was a wonderful man who was very loved. His goodness will forever shine through his children and beloved grandchildren. What a great man to devote so much of his life to others while battling his own health issues- he made a great impact in the world and the lives of others. May he rest in peace.
Sister Blumell and family, I was saddened to hear of John’s passing. He was an inspiration to me with both his positive attitude and active participation in LDS church activities. I am very sorry that he is gone, but I am sure he knew where he came from and where he is going. I am hopeful that his family can take sollice in knowing he is happily joining those who have gone before. Sincerely, David S. Copley
My condolences to all of you, who shared John’s life and will miss him dearly. I cannot help but remember the joy of life and vibrancy he had about him. He was always willing to listen and to offer advice and chocolate or homemade cookies. I will never forget this wonderful man who I knew for only a short while but showed me how special everyone is and that everyone has a song to sing. Thank you for all your love John, may God keep you well with a steady supply of chocolate!
Our prayers and thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time.
Your dad is safe in Heaven.
God bless,
Ludy
So much gratitude in our hearts for the blessing of knowing you and John. In the past as well as so grateful for the great bishop he was to our daughter Heather. Our prayers and love are with you. We are so sorry he has been called home so soon…we know that he will be watching over you always.
He was a wonderful man, and I will always remember him as a great Father to his children, a sincere friend, and an amazing example of devotion, truth, and he will be missed very much. Our hearts go out to you all in your time of need. He truly loved you all very much.
When I think about John, I think of his smile. Some words that describe John are loving, kind, funny, happy and caring. He was always so happy to see you and he gave you his full attention, listening intently. At the last Ogden Christmas dinner we attended, the karaoke was set up and my kids wanted to sing, so John stayed the longest so he could sing with my kids.
My heart breaks for your family. This really sucks and I wish I could take away your pain.
Godspeed John Emerson Blumell. You are one of the nicest men I know. You are going to be terribly missed by so many. I have such fond memories of our time together during high school and I treasure them.
Barb we are so saddened to hear about John. We love and pray for you. It was great to see you at the temple last year with your sweet Katie. I’m grateful to be connected to her.
You are strong, brave and capable and I know you are going to continue on faithfully until you meet your sweetheart again.
All our love,
Sheryl and Scott xoxoxo
Barb, It is with great sadness that we offer you and your family our sincerest condolences. John was such an important influence in my younger adult years and I have been blessed for having known him. I will always remember John’s ready smile, hearty laugh, and generous soul. There were many basketball and ping pong games played, and dances attended. And always there was that exuberant smile! We know that God will be with you, and hope that you and your family are comforted in the knowledge that you will be together again.
So sorry to hear of John’s passing.
He is so loved and will surely be missed. Our heartfelt sympathy to Barbara and the family.
We will always remember his goodness and especially his dancing feet.
Our thoughts and our prayers are with you all.
Con & Caron, Langley B.C.
John was a wonderful man. I found him to be a great husband, great dad and even a greater grandpa.
He enjoyed life, never complained, had a very strong faith, was happy and smiling all the time.
Our hearts go out to all of you
Our prayers go with you all
John was a very good man and his thoughts will live on in so many good memories we have from him
Barb & Family,
My deepest condolences to you all. I have know John since I moved to Calgary 1995, as he became my accountant. John was the best accountant anyone could ever ask for, he always had a story to tell and could always make you smile and laugh. John would always take the time to ask me how my Crohn’s Disease was doing and I inturn would ask him… This year we also got to swap cancer stories. The last story John shared with me while we were both hooked up to IVs at the Tom Baker was an amazing one of his trip to Montana with all of his family. You could hear it in his voice how happy that trip made him and how proud he was of all his children and grand children! The pictures were wonderful too!
Barb and Family, may the beautiful memories of your loved one John always remain as keepsakes for your heart. He was an amazing man!
Condolences to you and your family Barb in your time of loss.
My thoughts go out to the Blumell family on your loss. John’s story sounds like a life well lived and I am sure he will live on through your memories and thoughts of him.
Barb,
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.
Laura, Chris and family, our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time.
Barb and family,

Barb and family;
Our sincere condolences to you and your entire Blumell and Ogden families. John was truly an amazing guy and you have captured his life so well in this beautiful obituary. He was an example and inspiration. May you know our thoughts and prayers are with you at this very sad time. John’s smile was contagious and something I will always remember.
I can only say with great sorrow how sorry I am for your loss, John was an amazing man, happy, positive always smiling, he was a great person to have around, always made your day. I know how his family feels and how deep this loss is, as I lost my mother almost 1 yr. ago, the hurt is something you can not explain, but know that he now is resting and has great company, with his parents and sister, now all of them can look after their accomplishment, which is His Family. He will always be proud of his children and grandchildren, as he used to say “Life doesn’t get better than this”
May God bless you all and give you the strength at moment.

What a beautiful tribute! I remember John’s enthusiastic dancing at Sarah and Brent’s wedding. His positive attitude was catching; he was a real pleasure to be around. Our hearts go out to the Blumells, may God bless and comfort each of you.
I am so sorry for your loss. I have known John since I was 15 and he remains in my mind as such a positive person, with an incredible passion for life and family. He was a great husband, father and friend. I will so miss sitting with him and tax time and talking about old times and new. I know John will watch over his family on the other side as much as he can and looks forward to being reunited with his family one day.
The light you are to others continues to shine on in your posterity here. Grateful we are for the blessing you and yours have been in our lives. We are better for the privilege of “touching shoulders” with you and yours. May you all have comfort in your hour of need. You are so wonderful…
John was such a wonderful person and I am thankful to have had the opportunity to know him and I know he touched so many lives. My heart goes out to you at this difficult time.
Though he had to leave the missionfield early in Halifax, I KNOW he will be an incredible missionary on the other side, as he proclaims the joyous news that Christ attoned for all mankind.
Bishop Blumell became a dear friend. I would always leave our visits with a firm dedicated to be more loving, to always work hard, and to be a better disciple of Christ. My prayers are with you all at this time.
more loving, to work hard
