Obituary of Jean Irene TAYLOR
TAYLOR, Jean Irene
September 17, 1923 – Nelson, British Columbia
October 26, 2013 – Calgary, Alberta
Jean Taylor of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully in the Rockyview General Hospital on October 26, 2013 at the age of 90 years.
Jean was born in Nelson, BC on September 17, 1923, and lived in Rosedale, Drumheller, and Calgary. As a young woman, she attended Normal School in Calgary and taught in various locations throughout Alberta before marrying and becoming a full-time mom.
Jean was an active member of the United Church, most recently in the Pleasant Heights and Wild Rose congregations. She was also an Eastern Star member for over 50 years and a Past Matron.
Although she is no longer with us, Jean’s qualities will forever inspire the people who knew and loved her. She had an unfailingly positive outlook that served her well throughout her life, even when she was confined to a hospital bed with a broken hip. She was an honest, hard-working, generous, stoic person who loved gardening, singing and listening to music, reading, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She leaves behind daughter Marilyn Taylor and spouse Frances Ure of Nakusp, son Glen Taylor and spouse Christine Lebeuf of Calgary, and two granddaughters, Eleonore and Isabelle Lebeuf-Taylor. Also surviving her are brother-in-law Glenn Graham of Vulcan and three members of her generation in the Taylor family, Ken and Lorraine of Edmonton and Maxine of Calgary, as well as loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Jean was predeceased by her husband Jack Taylor and her sister Muriel Graham in 2004, and her older brother Billy Goulding in 1929.
The family sincerely thanks the wonderful staff at the StayWell Manor and Unit 81 of the Rockyview Hospital for the compassionate care they gave Jean in the twilight of her life.
A memorial service will be held at Wild Rose United Church (1317 First Street NW, 403-277-5576) on Wednesday, November 6 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a reception in the church.
