Obituary of Roger John POWLIK

POWLIK, Roger John July 10, 1938 – Thorsby, Alberta July 2, 2013 – Calgary, Alberta Roger Powlik of Calgary passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the age of 74 years. Roger was born in Thorsby, Alberta in 1938. From humble beginnings in small-town Alberta and despite losing his mother at an early age, he was able to accomplish much through hard work and determination. He graduated in Pharmacy from the University of Alberta in 1960. He practised pharmacy for 40 years in southern Alberta. For a time he was the owner of Dalbrent Pharmacy in Calgary NW. He was very proud of his son, Dr. James Powlik, who worked for the National Science Foundation in Washington, DC., and pre-deceased him in 2008. He is survived by his sister Lorraine Stapleton (Dennis) of Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON; brother Gerald Powlik (Lynne) of Langley, BC; step-brother Harvey Woitas (Linda) of Calgary; sister-in-law Helen Neil of Calgary; ex-wife Louise Pepper of Richmond, BC; nieces Vanessa, Laura, Karen, and Sandra; nephews Cody, Josh, and Carson; daughter-in-law Julie Ehrhart-Powlik of Maryland, USA; and granddaughter Lindsay. Roger’s family would like to extend heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff of the Rockyview General Hospital ICU for their comprehensive care and attention.
