Obituary of Caroline GRANT
1919 – Glasgow, Scotland
2013 – Calgary, Alberta
Caroline Grant (nee Ellis) of Calgary passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 16, 2013 surrounded by family at the age of 94 years.
She was born in Scotland on March 14, 1919 and immigrated to Canada as a small child. Part of a large family of four brothers and three sisters, who she was devoted to, she spent her early years in the MacGregor area before moving to Winnipeg as a young woman. After the death of her first husband during the war, she worked for Eatons in ladies shoes. She married our father, Allan, in 1951 and enjoyed forty-six years of marriage until his passing in 1997.
Caroline was an active member of St. Gerard’s parish until she relocated to Calgary in 2004. She loved to travel, and took many trips with Dad in her lifetime. Her time in Calgary was filled with family events which she enjoyed right up until her passing. We are grateful for all the family being together for her last birthday.
Caroline is survived by four children, Craig (Norma), Heather (Gerry), Jim (Kathie) and Pat (Eric). She is also survived by seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law Helen and Doris Ellis; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A private family service was held in Calgary on May 20, 2013. A celebration of Caroline’s life and internment will be held in Winnipeg at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home (4000 Portage Avenue) on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
