Obituary of Muriel Mary Claire LINDLAND
1920 – Larne, Antrim
2013 – Calgary, Alberta
Muriel Mary Claire Lindland passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 16, 2013 in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 92 years. She was born September 3, 1920 in Larne, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, the daughter of Michael James Fitzpatrick and Ellen Mary Sheehan.
At the age of twenty, Muriel left Ireland to find employment in wartime London, England. It was there at a Canadian army social function that Muriel first met her future husband, Lawrence George Lindland. They married in London in 1944 and after the war Muriel joined him in Brooks, Alberta. In 1950 the family moved to Calgary. After George passed away in 2009, Muriel moved to the Fountains of Mission, where she enjoyed playing bridge and bingo, and visiting with friends.
A blithe spirit and a blessing to all whose lives she touched, Muriel enjoyed meeting new people and was always up for an adventure. She loved to laugh and sing and celebrate life.
Muriel was a wonderful mother who always put her children’s happiness and well being ahead of her own. She will be deeply missed by her sons Larry, John and Kevin; daughter Pauline; son-in-law Ben, daughters-in-law LaDonne, Kim and Lisa; grandchildren Warren (Cathy), Angela, Shauna (Bruce), and Jerad; and great-grandchildren Shaelyn, Seth, Ella, Maya, Finn, Owen and Mara. Muriel is also mourned by her family in Ireland.
A Private Family Service will be held. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family is grateful to the nursing staff on unit 72 at the Rockyview General Hospital for their excellent care and compassion. Thank you also to the staff at the Fountains of Mission for welcoming and supporting Muriel during her stay.
