Obituary of Gerry GERLINSKY

1957 – Edmonton, Alberta 2013 – Calgary, Alberta Gerald Gerlinsky, beloved husband of Alma, passed away in Calgary on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at the age of 55 years. Gerald Anthony Gerlinsky began his life on September 25, 1957 in Edmonton, Alberta, son born to Anthon Gerlinsky and Anita Sidnick. He was a carpenter all his life and lived in Edmonton, Winnipeg, Banff, Black Diamond and Calgary. On April 28, 2012 he married Alma Abrenica. While living in Calgary, he was Head Scenic Carpenter “Theatre Calgary” had been a member of IATSE- since Sept. 11, 1994. Their best vacation ever was there trip to Moalboal, Cebu Philippines. Gerry’s motto was Live each day to the fullest. Gerry was a member of I.A.T.S.E. for almost 20yrs. He earned a solid reputation as a top-notch highly skilled and reliable carpenter, construction numerous academy and Emmy-Award winning Motion Pictures and television shows, Broadway Musicals, Operas and Stage Productions. He shall be missed by hundreds of IATSE members who had the pleasure to have known and worked with him. Gerry most recently worked on the build of Anne of Green Gables for Theatre Calgary. He will be deeply missed by the entire company. He worked under almost all of local 212’s Collective agreements; the Calgary Opera, F&D Scene Changes, and Bleeding Art Industries as well as taking numerous stage calls through the locals. As one of the local’s most active members he will be sorely missed. His gentle demeanor, wonderful sense of humour and care for others were exemplary. Calgary, AB) on Sunday, May 19, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Monday, May 20, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church (5340 – 4th Street S.W.) on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
