Obituary of Barbara Elizabeth THOMAS

July 3, 1927 – Sec.34, Tp.29, Rge.27, W.2, Saskatchewan July 20, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta Barbara Elizabeth Thomas, beloved wife of Godfrey (Geoff) Edward Thomas of Calgary AB, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at the age of 92 years. Barbara was born on a farm near the town of Renown, Saskatchewan on July 3, 1927 to Eva McKay (nee) and Norman Huck. In 1936, at the age of nine, she immigrated with her family to Swindon, England. In 1948, at the age twenty, Barbara returned on her own to Canada, to the country she loved. One of Barbara’s great passions was playing the piano and she continued this passion for as long as she could. Barbara achieved her Licentiate Performers Diploma with the Trinity College of Music London in 1967. She shared her passion with congregations, musical groups, singers, family and friends. She was an active member of several churches through the years, the last being St. Giles Presbyterian in Calgary. Her other main passion was for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. We all benefited from her loving, positive support throughout our lives. Besides her husband Geoff, Barbara is survived by her daughter, Gail (Harry Bryant) and son David (Lori); Granddaughters Lindsey (Jim Sikyea), Robyn, and Brynlee; and Great-Granddaughter Olivia. Barbara was predeceased by her brothers Tom and Ted (Jean) and her sisters Dot Lasseter (Bill) and Clara. We are grateful to the wonderful staff at Bow Crest Care Centre and to Dr McKenna for their extraordinary care of Barbara. Relatives and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (), on Saturday, August 10th, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
