Obituary of Hans SCHALLHORN

Hans Schallhorn passed away on Saturday September 22nd surrounded by the love of his family. Hans is survived by his wife Linda; 10 children, 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and predeceased by mother Emma Frankie and son Michael Hans was born in Berlin, Germany on June 14th, 1932. In August 1951 after hearing of a company in Canada looking for fit young men he sailed on board the Anna Selen. After 10 days at sea he arrived in Halifax and headed to Sudbury, Ontario to work as a lumberjack. After a short while in Sudbury, he moved to Edmonton and joined the PPCLI; later moving to Calgary where he resided most of his life. Throughout his life he had many talents and jobs. The one he is known for most was his roofing business with his sons. Hans’ love of western movies lead him to some parts in the TV series Lonesome Dove. He was an avid model ship builder, and built three replicas of famous war ships which he then donated to the Military Museum in Calgary, where they are proudly displayed. Thank you to Dr. Lauf and the staff of the Agape Hospice for their care given. In lieu of flowers donations can be given in Hans’ name to the Agape Hospice Care or The Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
