Obituary of Catherine Joan GRAY

GRAY, Catherine “Joan” April 27, 1926 – January 12, 2019 Joan Gray (nee Christian) of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully at the age of 92. Joan was born in Drumheller. She moved to Vancouver in her teens, and then to Calgary after she married Len in 1949. She frequently spent her summers in Sundre, Sylvan Lake, Vancouver and Cowley. Joan was involved in the Girl Guides, Boy Scouts and St. Martin’s. She loved entertaining, knitting, birding, camping, jigsaws, crosswords, painting, baking, crafting, sewing, the Opera, the Monarchy, JEOPARDY!, speaking her mind, listening to others, and she really did remember everyone’s names and families. Joan is survived by her twin sister Patricia (Pat) Gouge, daughter Catherine Greyland and son Richard Gray (Colleen Eggertson), Charlies’ widow Roxanne and his first wife Barb, and numerous family and friends. Joan was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Marjorie (Clapham) Christian, brother William (Bill) Christian, husband Leonard (Len) C.A. Gray, and eldest son Charles (Charlie) Gray. A special thank you to the staff at George Boyack for their loving care of Joan in her final days. A viewing will be held on Monday, January 21, 2019 at McInnis & Holloway Funeral Home, Park Memorial from 4:00-6:00pm. Funeral Services will be held at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. Reception to follow. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
