Obituary of Anna Margreta GUY

Born in Tranebjerg, Denmark March 17, 1918 Immigrated to Canada in 1928 with parents, Ove and Anna Kirkbeck having settled in Saskatoon. Greta was predeceased by her 2 siblings, Paul and Ebba. Greta married Gwyn Smith-Jones in 1939 and moved to Toronto to start a family beginning with Carol Smith-Jones (Richard Kwong) then Robert Smith-Jones (Carol St. Dennis) and Fred Smith-Jones (Virginia Bischke). Finally settling in Calgary where they started a hearing aid business, which they found greatly satisfying. In conjunction with their business, they traveled to a handful of international destinations for conventions. Retiring in 1977 they spent their winters in Indio, California. Gwyn passed away in 1978. Greta was not alone for long and was fortunate in meeting Bill Guy, an American from Everett, WA whom she married in 1979 and they spent their next 30 years between Calgary and Indio, CA. Bill passed away in 2009. Greta was predeceased by her daughter Carol Ann Smith-Jones(Kwong) in 1985 and son John Fredrick Smith-Jones in 2007. Greta felt blessed in joining another family. Bill’s children, Bill, Kenny, Joanne, Gerry and all of their children. Greta leaves four grandchildren, John Kwong, Jennifer Kwong, Robert Smith-Jones, Jocelynne Smith-Jones and four great grandchildren, Lauren, Stephanie, Julian and Madeline. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Southwood Care Centre for their loving care of Greta. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, June 29, 2012 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
