Obituary of Reverend Denis E. FLEMING

Born – October 10, 1925 – Sydney Mines, NS Ordained – May 18, 1952- Blairmore, AB Passed away – December 16, 2016 – Calgary, AB Reverend Denis Fleming, passed away at the Father Lacombe Care Centre on Friday, December 16, 2016 at the age of 91 years. Father Fleming was ordained on May 18, 1952 at St. Anne’s Church in Blairmore, AB by Bishop Johnson. After his ordination, he became the Assistant Pastor at St. Mary’s Parish in Calgary from 1952 – 1955, then Pastor at Holy Ghost Parish in Coleman, AB from 1955-1964 and at St. Luke’s Parish in Calgary from 1964-1975. It was in 1975 he went on a Sabbatical leave and entered studies at the American College, Louvain and Angelicum College in Rome. When he returned from his Sabbatical he was Chaplain in the Armed Forces, and from 1977-1979 he was the Pastor at St. Patrick’s Parish in Calgary and then Pastor at St James’s Parish in Calgary from 1979-1986. Father Fleming became Pastor at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Calgary from 1986 – 1994 and retired on August 3, 1994. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at St. Mary’s Cathedral (219 – 18th Avenue S.W.) on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be concelebrated at St. Mary’s Cathedral (219 – 18th Avenue S.W.) on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
