Condolences
With heartfelt and deepest condolences to John, Christina and Natasha:
As friends, neighbours and a fellow teacher at Marion Carson School, it saddens us to learn of the passing of Amalia, having visited her, what seems to be such a short time ago. So full of life, laughter and passion, one candle’s light has dimmed upon learning of the passing of Amalia. I often thought of her when running by the house, sending prayers and “good vibes” your way. We’ve know you for many years, and remember when Amalia came over to help babysit, seeing Christina and Natasha drop by the school, it seems like only yesterday. Her laugh will be an echo of a memory to hold on to. Stay strong, keep her memory alive, fight the dark times, relish in the memories, and take solace in the fact she has returned to the Father, no longer suffering, to continue new memories until you can once again sit around the table and laugh together as a family once more.
With deepest sympathy,
Ted, Maryann & Miranda Wiedener
I am so sorry to hear about Mrs. Simoes passing. I was driving with my boys, past Marion Carson, and we began talking about their time at that school. They said they had seen an announcement on Facebook. I am so sorry we missed the service but wanted you to know what an incredible teacher she was! She taught both of my boys in Grade 3 and they both have very fond memories of her many years later. She was always so loving, kind, accepting and positive. She understood that every child was unique and wanted to bring the best out of each and every one! I ran into her last year and we talked for a while about her battle with cancer and seemed so positive. With all she was dealing with, she still wanted to talk about my boys and remembered their names after over 10 years. She was a lovely person and I feel very lucky that we had a chance to know her.
Our deepest sympathies,
Michelle, Colin, Tyler and Evan Corey
Dear John, Christina and Natasha,
I was so sad to read about Amalia. She was a lovely, very gracious lady, and I always enjoyed seeing your family in my office. She would come in with you beautiful little girls and was so proud! I would always ask about your latest trips to Portugal and in fact, walked the Portuguese Camino to Santiago this year. Please know my prayers are with your family in your grief.
God bless and hold you. Marina Skulsky

I am so sorry to hear this sad news. I will always remember her beautiful smile and even more beautiful heart. She was raised by one of the warmest families I have ever had the pleasure to know. My heart goes out to all the family.
My deepest sympathies go out to you and your family. May God give you comfort and peace as you mourn her passing. I am honoured and blessed to have known Amalia as a fellow teacher at Marion Carson for many years. Amalia filled the room with her laughter, thoughtfulness, kindness, and grace. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Mrs. Simoes was an amazing math teacher. She was my grade. 3 teacher 4 years ago and I will truly miss her and the help that she gave me. She was an amazing person and will always be in my heart. She was one of the nicest teachers I have had so far and I will miss her and her special math techniques. I am sorry for your loss.
Mrs. Simoes was my my favorite teacher amongst all teachers that I have had. She was loving of all her students and provided care and support for each individual student.
I remember Mrs. Simoes helped my family plan a trip to Portugal. She would spend her free time making me booklet at telling me about the wonderful sightseeing around Portugal. Mrs. Simoes did this out of her kind heart, she is a person who does not expect anything in return.
May she rest in peace.
Our heartfelt condolences for your loss. Thinking of all of you.
Hugs
Louis, Sara, Jaime & Nicholas Rego

Dear Simoes family,
I’m so sorry for your loss. I am a former student of Mrs. Simoes when I was in Grade 3 at Marion Carson and was also a student teacher of hers during my time in the Education program at Mount Royal University. I just recently graduated from this program and am now a teacher for the CBE. As a student of hers and a future teacher, Mrs. Simoes inspired me to pursue an career in education because of her passion for teaching. She will be truly missed.
I came to Canada in 2003 with no word of English or knowledge of the culture of our nation. When I was in grade 3, I was blessed to have Mrs. Simoes as my first teacher in Canada. She welcomed me with open arms and a caring heart. She had the most admirable patience towards to me as a new immigrant and nervous little girl. She had a huge influence in my life after elementary school, I owe her my confidence and love towards learning. I send my deep condolence to her family and friends. She will be forever loved.
Thank you Mrs. Simoes, rest in peace.
We are so sorry for your loss. Amalia was a kind and lovely person. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

I loved teaching with Amalia. I will never forget her compassion and generosity. She would light up when speaking about her daughters and husband. Amalia spoke so passionately about Portugal. A place I would love to visit because of her. We always laughed that we shared the same birth date and initials. Marion Carson will not be the same without our sweet Amalia.
To Amalia’s Daughters and Husband,
I taught with Amalia for 3 years at Marion Carson (2006 – 2009). She was a phenomenal teacher and such an incredible influence to me in my teaching. May you find peace and comfort at this time!
My deepest sympathies!
Sincerely,
Darlene Schmidt

Amalia touched the lives of many students, parents and staff members. Her caring, compassion and influence will be remembered for a long time. Many students will look back at their academic career and thank Amalia for giving them a chance, challenging them and celebrating their success with them. She never let them give up or gave up on them. We are happy that we knew her and you must be proud that she was your mother, wife, sister, daughter or bond of the family. She was a great role model that we all have learned from. On behalf of Marion Carson School, we send our deepest condolences to you.
